Pope and Condoms

After Comic Relief showing us heart wrenching images of vulnerable children who have lost their parents to aids and the potential for these children to be HIV positive I find it horrifying that the pope who is currently visiting Africa for the first time has condemned the use of condom because he believes it will increase the spread of the disease. This flies in the face of proven scientific research and has created an impossible position for the charity workers who are trying to educate the population on safe sex.

In my view his comments are hypocritical and out of touch with reality and the lifestyle of many modern Catholics who practice contraception and are advocates of the condom.
I believe a man with such influence and power should open his mind to greater learning and open his ears to people with a greater awareness and understanding of the situation in Africa.http://www.guardian.co.uk/world/2009/mar/17/pope-africa-condoms-aids
